Sharing Our Expertise
Joe Lassiter, President and Chief Pharmacy Informatics Officer of TRG, recently presented through the Becton Dickinson (BD) at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Global Health Conference and Exhibition (HIMSS21) in Las Vegas, NV. His session, Analytics: the key to high performance pharmacy programs, is available in an on-demand video format here.

TRG appreciates the opportunity to share with the HIMSS audience, educating and expanding the industry understanding of Analytics in Pharmacy Practice. Our partnership and collaborative relationship with BD is key to moving forward this discussion.
Joe explains the “what,” “why,” “how,” and “when,” of a Pharmacy Analytics program. He emphasizes how analytics is critical to the future of the industry. Recent guidance from the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) to healthcare providers highlights “technology and data management…as backbone of a key domain of these high-value, high-impact enterprises.”
Joe concludes by encouraging leaders to start a Pharmacy Analytics Program “now.” Start where you are able but start!
- Identify key outcomes in select domains that need to be supported by an analytics program
- Leverage internal structures in place for business intelligence and/or existing analytics programs
- Grow your program over time with dedicated resources and partnerships
Panel Discussion
Joe participated in another event hosted by BD – and moderated by our partner firm Visante, Inc. – on June 16, 2021. This dynamic panel discussion included justification, implementation and operation of a successful pharmacy analytics program. TRG enjoyed being part of this conversation with other pharmacy leaders to share how quality pharmacy analytics points directly to high performing pharmacy programs.
This panel was not recorded, however a write-up on this event was recently published by Drug Topics. To read a summary of this panel discussion see Build a Successful Hospital Pharmacy Analytics Program, by Jennifer Barrett.
